Critical or Intensive care is needed if someone is very sick and requires intensive treatment and close monitoring, or if they’re having surgery and intensive care can help them recover. Most people in an ICU usually have problems related to many organs of the body. Some common reasons which require critical care are:
- Accidents– such as a road accident, head injury, falls or severe burns
- Heart attack, stroke, organ failures
- Patients with diabetes, cancer , with low immunity catching infections
- Serious infections – like pneumonias, sepsis
- Following major surgery – this can either be a planned part of your recovery, or an emergency measure if there are complications
Patients in ICU will be looked after closely by a team of ICU staff and will be connected to equipment like ventilator, monitoring equipment, iv lines, pumps, feeding tubes, catheters, drains etc by a number of tubes, wires and cables. Being in ICU is usually an overwhelming experience for the patient as well as for the family .We can help you by providing complete ICU care if you or your loved one is dealing with life threatening challenging situations where managing the patient appropriately in golden hour can change the course of disease.
